Abstract

Significant discrepancies in estimations of population size according to data of current records of natural increase and migration from one hand, and estimations of population size according to the census date from the other, have a crucial impact on estimation of levels, trends and nosological peculiarities of population mortality changes. By Moscow as an example, it was shown that inclusion of the 2010 census data and especially the 2002 census data in principal improved estimation of life expectancy (by 2.8 years in men and by 0.9 years in women); changed perception about trends (lack of negative dynamics in life expectancy after 1997) and nosological structure (maximum revision of mortality estimations related to causes characteristic to the middle ages mainly for external causes).
