Abstract

Abstract This analysis uses data from the Service Provision and Assessment (SPA) Survey in Senegal in two years (2012-2013 and 2014) to study the readiness of health facilities in providing family planning services. Two types of outcomes were examined: one studies the general structure of the facilities (basic infrastructure, equipment, availability of diagnostic tests) using principle component analysis, and the other examines commodities that are specific to providing family planning services using logistic regressions. The findings indicate that certain regions as well as the facility type, managing authority and locality differed in their readiness with respect to the outcomes examined. These results can provide insight on where and which facilities require further attention to improve their readiness in providing family planning services in Senegal.
